New Link 10/100 NICs & Switches - Any Novell Problems ???

I am a reseller in the process of upgrading two client servers (hardware),
running Novell 4.11 & 5.1sbs and their ethernet. Circa 40.no Win'98 & 95
workstations running mostly DOS database application. Structured CAT5e
cabling presently with 10Mbps D-Link hubs (now being upgraded to 100Mbps
switches).

We are proposing to upgrade the ethernet to100Mbps cards and switches. My
hardware distributor is proposing to supply me with Newlink 10/100 Mbps NICs
and Newlink 100Mbps 24.port switches (model no.) for my client. I did a
search on the Novell knowledge base for any problem associated with Newlink
network products and did not find any comments, which I found comforting.

Would anybody have any comments to make on the suitability & reliability of
Newlink NIC's & Switches viz-z-viz Novell and any known bugs or problems?

Also, any pointers to any reviews of NIC's & switches regarding reliability
& best buys would be most welcomed and of course any recommendations.

Gerard,

Never heard of "Newlink". That might well also explain the lack of info on
them.

I think general consensus among the SysOp would come out favoring Intel
NICs, but there may not be a consensu for switches. I prefer instead of
fewer large 24 port and larger switches to use more and smaller switches for
the ability to segment the network to manage performance.

I have a Cisco, a Allied Telesyn and two SMC switches in my office network
and I do not have a preference (or problems) for any of them.

Newlink, is I believe New Link Cabling Systems. They are a reseller,
offering rebranded gear from other manufacturers; their switchs, I believe
are actually rebrands from Accton, but I am basing this on appearance alone.
I have used Accton equipment in the past with great success, but I have
always been leary of rebranded items; too much chance of getting "seconds".
