When I run PKIDIAG on my server testfire.domain.com it returns
mailserver.domain.com as the DNS name for the server. It returns the proper
IP address etc. I can ping the server from workstations and other servers
utilizing "ping testfire" and "ping testfire.domain.com". All entries that
I could locate in hosts, hostname, and resolv.cfg appear to be correct. I
have checked the manual entires for the statically assigned IP address in
the DNSDHCP console and it is correct. While this may be cosmetic it sure
is a pain when ceating certificates etc. I was hoping someone might know
where the value is stored on the server and how to change it. All I can
find is that it may have been created/recorded during server install. It is
possible that the current address had a DNS entry for mailserver.domain.com
at the time testfire.domain.com was installed. I will happily try to be
more clear or provide more information if needed. I am aware that this
might not be the right place to post, but I am at a loss for where would be
more correct. Thank you for your assistance and thoughts on this matter.

Gus,

Try to do run an NSLOOKUP from a workstation (pointing to the same DNS
server as the RESOLV.CFG of your server points to).
Use the following syntax:

NSLOOKUP <ip address of server>

This will show you how the IP address is resolved in DNS.
