ip renewal disconnects users from network

Here is a strange one,we have a select number of users who get kicked off
the network,they lose connectivity to there documents like spreadsheets
and programs(AS/400).They regain connectivity after the renewal but cant
save excel and programs that cant auto-connect like AS/400 they have to
log back in.there is nothing unusal in the DHCP log,runnning 4.9 client
i even uninstalled everything in network neighborhood and reinstalled
(2000 client)and put sp1a for the 4.9 client same thing.

What version of dhcpsrvr.nlm?
What nic driver are you running on the server?

In addition to Joerg's questions... what version of NetWare and what
service pack?

And check your network switch configuurations for spanning tree
protocol (s/b disabled) and/or 'port fast' settings (may need to
reverse the setting).
