I disabled the Novell logon screen on my xp laptop. now I lost the windows
welcome screen its there a way I can get that back and also the logoff
button on the start button

Only by uninstalling Novell. Any client (not only Novell's) will remove the
Windows Welcome on XP.
The logoff button should be there (check your group policy setting).
