unable to login after windows critical updates installed?

We installed windows critical updates on several windows 98 se workstations,
and now they no longer can log into the netware 5.0 server.
and now they no longer can log into the netware 5.0 server.
On one workstation, we can login into the novell server with microsoft
client for netware, but I assume ndps will no longer function? So, we then
upgraded the novell client to 3.4 and we are ok on that pc.
We are still unable to login other workstations either with microsoft client
for netware or novell client 3.4. Is this a registry issue?
