Hi All,

Problem again, wish it could happen less.

I have workstations loaded with VLM 1.21 and connect to NetWare 5.1 (SP4).
After logon and left it idle for awhile maybe 45mins-1 hours, workstation
will be disconnected from the server. So we need to restart the workstation
and login again but this time it cannot login anymore unless we restart the
NetWare server. This happen to all workstations not just one. Any ideas of
why it is so? I do not have this problem with Client32 but we need VLM
because of compatibility issues with our customised software.

Here is snippet of Startnet.bat and Net.cfg

STARTNET.BAT
------------------
SET NWLANGUAGE=ENGLISH
C:\NWCLIENT\LSL.COM
C:\NWCLIENT\RTSODI.COM
C:\NWCLIENT\IPXODI.COM
C:\NWCLIENT\VLM.EXE

NET.CFG
-----------
Link Driver RTSODI
FRAME Ethernet_802.2

NetWare DOS Requester
FIRST NETWORK DRIVE = F
NETWARE PROTOCOL = NDS BIND
SET STATION TIME = OFF

I read that by setting 'WatchDog' to most aggressive settings (shortest time
300 seconds) and on the switch set 'Mac-Address-Aging-Time' to 600 seconds
will resolve the problem, not sure about this. Any one can verify this and
which WatchDog setting is this in NW5.1 ? I read this from the same
newsgroup subjected 'Client 2.71 not staying connected' but of course it was
referring to Client32.

Please help.

First - Verify that Watchdogs are disconnecting your users ................

To turn on this monitoring type "SET CONSOLE DISPLAY WATCHDOG LOGOUTS =
ON" at the server console. This will allow for the dropping of connections to
show up on the console screen

If that is the case - Try some of the settings here ( More Watchdog
Packets/Longer Intervals)

Note: The root of your problem may be communication errors.
Hubs or Switchs? Is the Switch forced to a Certain Speed? How about the NIC?
