We just updated our VM cluster to kernel-vmi-2.6.16.60-0.59.1 and
novell-nss-4.12.2921-0.6.1 [1] this afternoon and the high utilization
when connecting with Syncsort went away. I don't think the boss has
made a backup with it yet, but i suspect that's not far away.

[1] I thought this was part of the "OES2 SP2 January 2010 Scheduled
Maintenance 20100130 bug fix list" (TID 7005280), but it seems that they
have released further patches via the YaST update channel.
