suse linux et. 9 and a postfix processes called pickup and qmgr

we did a pretty minimal install of Suse enterprise 9, now when I'm
looking at a PS -ef command output, I see two processes, one called qmgr
and another called pickup; both UID are postfix...

what are these and what spawns them? I don't want anything on this box
that we don't need. It's basically going to be running a web site
content manager...it doesn't need print services or actually file
services in the traditional sense or other stuff like that. We
basically run a web site on it that provides an interface into the
content storage system....

See man:qmgr and man:pickup you might find that you will need these for
"system" mail.

Not a good idea to get rid of these but you can try without if you want.
