Each one has its Pros and Cons and which solution is best depends on
your organization. Do you have any development teams specialized in
any one area? Generally Novell's IdM doesn't require any specific
development experience, only an understanding of translating business
policy into rules. MS ILM generally requires .NET or similar developer
skills to implement desired business logic. My firm is presenting a
seminar on comparing and contrasting IdM and ILM in early December.
I'll be leading this seminar along with another consultant from my
firm. We partner with both Novell and Microsoft but we don't sell
anything and don't have commitments to either. Hopefully the seminar
will be posted on the site soon (I see it isn't yet) so check there at
