*Who* told you that? You can install SP8 on 6.5 SBS just fine.

YMMV ;) At this point, I see no compelling reason to upgrade the core
OS. If you are on maintenance, then you get the new stuff, such as GW8
anyway. In the long term though, you should consider migrating to
OES/Linux.
