I have two printers on our network that I have had problems getting
connected to our print server via queue based printing. Nowhere in
the internal web settings have I seen a section to set the mode to
rconfig to allow the print server on the Novell box to communicate.
The 2 printers in question are the Laserjet 2430 and the Business
Inkjet 1100. Strange thing is that we have a Laserjet 2420 which is
identical to the 2430, just a lower ppm count and that had a check box
to enable rconfig. I was able to get that connected to the printer
server just fine. I've looked at firmware updates but they are all up
to date. I guess it's possible older firmware version had the rconfig
option and the newer ones removed them. In them meantime the printers
are connected to the network in tcp/ip mode but I'd like to have all
printer centrally manageable on the print server.

Anyone else run into similar problems?

Thanks,
Tom

pretty much all the newer printers moved towards NDPS/iPrint (aka
IP-based) instead of queue-based printing over IPX ... if you have an
really old version of JetAdmin or WebAdmin, you may give that a try ...

In addition to Peter's comment: Is NDPS/Iprint not an option?
NDPS/iPrint also supports printin gto queues.

Thanks for the tip. Forgot about that old JetAdmin program. I made
the change to remote using that and worked like a charm. Just
couldn't get an HP Business Inkjet 1100 to go remote, the settings
just wouldn't stick.
Thanks again!
Tom
