Hey Guys

I don't believe it's possible to add more than one copy of a Queued printer
to a Windows XP workstation, right?

What I need to do is have two printers available to the user which print to
the same physical printer -- but one with a PCL driver and one with
Postscript.

So I thought I could create a new Q object in Netware administrator, and add
that as an assignment to the already existing P object and that should work,
right?

Well, I did everything I needed to do in NetWare Administrator but it
doesn't seem to have worked. The job just stays in the new queue, and jobs
sent to the original queue are still processed.

Any ideas?

Ought to work; it's been a while, but I'm sure we used to use a similar
scheme to give staff priority over pupils. Two queues, one printer set
to service both, with the staff queue at a higher prioity than the
prole queue.

How busy is the first queue? Just wondering if it's a case of resource
starvation, if no gaps crop up the second queue might never get a look
in.

Are you using PSERVER, or is the printers servicing the queue directly?

Hey Baljem,

The queue is otherwise empty apart from my experimenting.

The printer has a hardware print-server talking to the PS object in
the NDS.

At least I know I was on the right track and it should work, I shall
experiment more.

Ahh.. no, I didn't, didn't realise I'd need to for that kind of
thing. When I get a spare few minutes I'll try it, thanks.
