Despite what we set the number of copies to, this printer will only print
one copy.

We're using Bindery Queues on an NW4.11w/SP9 server and the NW 4.9w/SP2
client on either Win2KProw/SP4 or WinXPProw/SP1 or 2.

I have flashed both printer and jetdirect card to latest firmware.

I'm using the latest PCL6 driver for 2K/XP.

We are NOT having this problem with any other model of HP LaserJet (we
have over 350 networked HPLJ printers), and, am having it with ALL
printers of this model.

If you print direct to it, using TCP/IP,...it works as expected, and
prints the number of copies you set.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Try capturing the printer or using a driver for a different model printer
that is working.

A bit late for extreme details, but IP/LPR printing using the Local Windows
Print Provider while
Print Queues use the Network Print Provider. Sometimes certain features of a
driver do not work correctly on the Nettwork Print Provider.

Don't ask Why LPR is local and not network, just stupid but true.

Thanks. I did try using a few different drivers, but, none work right (this
seems to be a markedly different printer). May try capturing, but, since
EVERY other printer model works, would like this one to just work, too...

I assume that, if I'm having problems, others are, too (I hope...I hate it
when it's just me...<G>).

The issue comes down to driver or the way in which the printer handles the print
job sent by the print driver.
Windows will actually form the print job differently depending on whether it
believes it is a "local" or "network" printer.
Novell's software does not play any role in the way in which the print job if
formed or how the printer handles it.

This is all controlled by Windows, Print Drivers, and the Printer itself.
Capturing the Printer can sometimes change the way to way the print job is
formed.
Changing the Driver cn sometomes change this as well.

You may also want to contact HP about the problem as they are the one
responsible for the problem and the only ones
who can actually generate an actual fix.

Got it working. The PCL 5e version of the driver works...you have to
uninstall the PCL 6 version, THEN install the PCL 5e version. Don't know
what's going on, as, we use PCL 6 on ALL other printers.

Anyway...at least it works...

Thanks.

And, I fully understand what you said, and did write HP, but...you know that
they're gonna blame Novell. The PCL 6 driver worked fine, if you print
straight to the IP address of the printer, not with Novell, though...

Sigh...

Just for kicks, you should try the PCL5 driver ... in the past few
months, I've seen too much strange issues with the PCL drivers (print
job keeps looping, for instance) and switching from PCL6 to 5 (or vice
versa) fixes that ...

I am seeing the same problem with printing multiple copies to HP4350 and
HP 2300 printers using PCL6 in a Novell environment. I even tried the
PCL6 driver and printing IP and still only get 1 copy. I have switched
the PC's to use postscript driver and that seems to be working ok. But
like the other guy said, we usually only use PCL 6 drivers on the PC's.

I plan to give HP a call in the nex day or two.
