I am using a DOS based application in Windows XP workstations that have
Client 4.83 installed. The application prints directly to PRINTQ_1. Until
a couple of days ago this was connected to a Castelle print server and we
had no problem. The print server died and I reconfigured the printer to be
an auto load, connected to the parallel port on the server, and loaded the
print server. My printing works just fine without reconfiguring anything
else but I now have banners and this is a check printer. I have tried
capturing the port on an LPT port so that I could specify no banner but then
Windows XP forces the printer to use a Windows driver and that messes up the
printing completely.

Is there anyway to just turn off banner printing at the print server level?

Thanks for any help.

The banner setting is done at the client level for the workstation
(assuming you are using the Novell client at the workstation to connect
to the server).

Check client properties
Default Capture -- make sure for the banner settings that Enable banner
is unchecked.

If you are using the Microsoft client for NetWare, life gets more
complicated.

Yes, but the problem was that it is not a captured port, the application is
printing directly to the queue. But you are right, I am using the Novell
client and ended up having to capture the port and reconfiguring the
application. The tough part was finding any reference for this old
accounting application but I did and it works fine now.

Thanks for your help.
