Ended up having to put the isp dns servers in *every* subnet we have,
as people started losing the ability to ping (or surf) anything outside
our network.
Noticed now too that several devices we have w/ static addresses & dns
entries set up are not reachable w/o putting the entire domain on it.
For example, if I try pinging serverA, I cannot find it by name unless
I ping serverA.my.domain. This is not the case for other static
machines, they'll ping just fine by name serverB, not the whole thing.
What gives? What do I need to fix to correct this issue?

If you set the client addresses manually, most people forget to set the
default DNS domain. If you give the clients a DNS domain, it should be
automatically be added to (at least some) DNS requests if you don't end
the request with a period.
