I'm typing in my password and I keep getting this error. I'm unable to
log into windows and I can't even get onto my computer. Someone please
help me :)
Can you verify that either the tree or server you have configured in the client
are valid and there is nothing wrong with your network connection?
Is there a Workstation only check-box available on the GINA that you can check
and login with a local Windows account?
Any additional components of the Novell Client installed (ie. ZFD agents like
Workstation Manager, NMAS, NetIdentity, etc.)?
Is the client installed IP, IPX or both?
4.83 SP1 is a little dated so I would recommend at least SP3 going forward.
You can then get both SP3 and Update A that applies to it below and overlay them
on top of the full 4.83 install...

Novell Client 4.83 SP 2

As client 4.83 will run out of support at the end of this year unless you have
some legacy concerns, you might consider using 4.90 SP2 or try testing the 4.91
beta release.

Once i type in my password it keeps giving the error--cannot verify tree
or server and I cant get onto my computer. Is there any way I can bypass
this so i can get back into windows and re-configure the settings the way
they were or just get into windows bypassing this. Thanks for your help!

Boot into safe mode then start regedit.exe. Goto:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon
Change the GinaDLL value from NWGINA.DLL to MSGina.DLL, then reboot.
Youll get the standard Windows Login prompt, login, remove the Novell
client, reboot, reinstall it.

I had the same problems. All was fixed by:
Installing 4.90SP2
Installing the 490 Post SP2 C Update
Setting Bad Address Cache Timeout to 0 (zero)
Setting Bad Server Name Cache Enabled = Off.
This made ALL the bad error messages go away.
