- most Adaptec SCSI controller chips are 2 channel chips. In the case of a
NetWare server, this means that the driver needs to be loaded twice, once
for each channel. To see if you have unhandled channels, just manually
load the HAM drover from the server console without any command line
options. If there are controllers found not yet handled by the driver, you
will get a choice of slot numbers to select from. If all channels are
handled, you just get an error.
- some Adaptec controllers provide a "hostraid" mode configured through
the controller's BIOS. If your server supports hostraid, make sire it is
disabled.
- all in all, verify that your disks are really missing. Use the console
command:
LIST STORAGE ADAPTERS
This will give you a list of controllers with for each controller, the
list of devices attached. If you see the disks here, but you can create
partitions on them, then possibly, the disks just haven't been
initialized. In this case, you have to go into nssmu.nlm, select the
device option, select the uninitialized disk and press the F3 button to
initialze. Attention! Don't use this option on a disk with working NetWare
partitions because it will wipe out the partitions on your disk.
