MAke sure NWTAPE.CDM isn't getting loaded (explicitely or automatically)
on your server.

I should have given more details:

NWTAPE.CDM in SP8 is broken. If it gets loaded and then unloaded, it
leaves the controller in an undefined state and other software will not be
able to access the tape drive. This seems to be exactly the problem you
have. You have to avoid NWTAPE.CDM beiong loaded in first place. Best way
to ensure this is to edit your startup.ncf file in c:\nwserver, remove any
line loading nwtape.cdm and add the following line:

SET Auto Load of CDM Modules = OFF

I alos saw your post on the Braccuda forums. I suggest upgrading to
Barracudaware 8.8.01. Tapeware 7.0 is not supported on NW6.5sp8. 8.8.02
will be the last version to have the ability to use Netware as a master
server.
