Also,, worth noting with nwtape, we've seen 2 related issues,

1. backupexec will unload or try to unload nwtape if it is loaded,
that itself can cause an abend.

2. with sp8, Nwtape unload by "unload nwtape" can still somehow manage
to kill backup or crash the server.
This even if you check that it's unloaded successfully.

Safest test is to simply rename nwtape.cdm to anything else.

So,, problem isn't only if it's loaded or not since even when
unloaded, the problem has allready occured and since BackupExec do
unload nwtape for you, you can't see if it's been loaded.

And,, it does sound like typical behaviour related to nwtape.
( we hade the same scenario/issue)
