Probably DOS and the old DOS client which also uses NLMs

Novell has a new enhancement request system,
or what is now known as the requirement portal.
If customers would like to give input in the upcoming
releases of Novell products then they should go to
http://www.novell.com/rms

Problemis that the old DOS client is no longer supported. I also assume
that the problem is not the stack itself, but rather the NIC driver.

You can try alternatives such as:

Having spent a disproportionate amount of time getting a TCPIP DOS 6.22 client working with an OES server I thought that I would publish my setup for the good of mankind!
You can download the zip from.
http://shail.co.uk/Client32Dos/novell_client32_dos_tcpip.zip
In the simplest form you only need a DOS disk which has had sys c: applied.
The directory layout should be as per the contents of the zip file.
The NIC was an old Dlink DE528 but the .LAN and .LDI client32 driver files from any card could be used instead provided that they are copied in to \novell\client32\ as well as editing \novell\client32\net.cfg and \novell\client32\startnet.bat in the corresponding places.
You will see that relevant autoexec.bat and config.sys files are included.
