License information in Nwadmn32 of a NetWare 5.1SP8 shows connections
which occurs up to 10 times with the same clients ip address. I know in
monitor.nlm this can occur with connections which have an asterix in
front of the entry. In Nwadmn32 all entries look equal.

I assume you are looking at the properties of the license object or the
license container in NWADMN32.EXE. That option gives you the actually
consumed licenses. So if a user shows 10 times there, it really means he
is using 10 licenses and in theory he is logged in at 10 workstations at
the same time. If that doesn't correspond to reality, e.g. if the user
isn't logged in in 10 different places concurrently, then there is indeed
some kind of problem in the license management.
What does your environment looks like? Do you have multiple servers? Are
they all NW 5.1, or do you have different NetWare versions as well in the
same tree? Is this regular NetWare 5.1 or is it the small business
version? Does the license usage count in the properties of the container
correspond to the number of users actually listed?

It's a native NW51SP8 single server. I am not sure if this is the
initial configuration. It is possible that the system has been
consolidated in the last years.
There are some entries which show the same ip address. This should be
impossible.
The licence counter of the license container object shows exactly the
sum of the usage of 2 licence objects .

Have you checked what kind of machine this is that shows with the multiple
IP addresses? Also, do you know whether this is a recent occurence of your
problem, or may it be a long lingering problem that you just have noticed
now?

There are several XP-stations which show more than one entry in the
list. The problem becomes visible when the system ran out of licenses.
It is possible that the problem exists for a longer time.
I thought about reinstalling NLSP but the license certificates work like
designed. Both certificates give connection licenses.

I don't remember if this is possible in NWADMN32.EXE, but try if you can
delete the extranous users from the license usage list. If that doesn't
work, you may have to delete and reinstall your connection license
certificates. While that should not affect already connected users, it is
of course nevertheless recommended to do that while most users are not
working.
