You want zenworks. It will make your life about a million times easier.

Make it your manager's problem.

Tell him you have this security issue. Tell him then you can fix it by
buying an additional product (zenworks). If he doesn't want to buy it
he's left with a security hole, not you.

Seriously, you'll need something like zenworks to fix this.
