Normally, the message indicates exactly what it says, e.g. that there is
no IPS file in the directory mentioned. Did you double check that the SP
was unpacked correctly, that the IPS file is present in the directory and
that you only specified the source directory and not the file name, and
that you didn't mistype the directory name?

No. It should work just like that. I don't know of any scenario where this
error could occur in cases where the correct directory name would be
specified or the correct files would be missing in that directory.
Maybe you could try entering the following as directory:
sys:nw50sp6a
(e.g. without slash or backslash)
