The workstations aren't set to not reply to ping? ICMP replies can be turned off
in the Windows Firewall.

Are the workstations and servers located on the same subnet?
If not either may be located behind a router/firewall which doesn't forward ICMP
packets.
Are you able to ping anything at all from the server? What SP version on the
server?

Correct if you ping on name. But the poster stated he can't ping IP
addresses.
