A common reason for this kind of problem is having CIFS enabled but not
properly configured on the server. This can cause intruder lockouts for
CIFS and the locked account then prevents a screen saver unlock.
In any case, I suggest you follow these intructions for taking an NMAS
trace on the server to see what is going on:

That's a strange sequence that doesn't occur with a normal client login.
As such, I suspect it is also NAM related. However since I don't know much
on how NAM interfaces with eDirectory, I don't know where to look further
for this one.
