For a start, did you install the NESCM method from the latest IAS client
CD (3.06)? Previously, there was in fact no method included for 64 bit
eDirectory on Linux. Only if you install a sufficiently new version you
will have 64 bit Linux support.

Next, enable NMAS logging on the server and post the resulting log entries
for a failed login. For details on how to enable logging, see:

IMHO something simply went wrong during your initial method install. You
should be aware that the only difference between the 2 ZIP files is the
NESCM plugin for iManager. All the other files, including the NMAS methods
are exactly the same in both ZIP files. The ZIP files themselves are even
completely useless because exactly the same files are already unpacked in
the "EnhancedSmartCard" directory.
