We are currently experimenting with deploying Windows XP (SP1) and
Zenworks 4. Windows XP is installed on the workstation using an
unattended install over the network. The Unattended install also sets
up the NetWare Client and McAfee anti-virus software.
To try and narrow down the problem area we have tried the following:
1) Install WindowsXP from CD, followed by WinXPSP1.
2) Install NW483sp1 with the following options:
NDPS
Workstation Manager
Zen Imaging
Remote Management
(no Zenworks application launcher)
3) Re-boot the w/s and logged into the w/s as my special administrator
account. I instantly got an "User Event Error" (something about
roaming profiles. I fixed this by the following reg hack:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"CompatibleRUPSecurity"=dword:00000001
I also at this stage enabled the Debugging.
4) Next point the w/s to our Zenworks 4 server and installed
ZFD4Agent.msi (patch1) and re-boot w/s (we don't have a middle tier)
Results: Profiles get left behind.
I have tried installing ZFD 4 on both a WindowsXP box with and without
SP1, and I get the same behavior.
Any help will be much appreciated
Chris
