OK, I know somebody has crossed this bridge but I couldn't find it in the
archives. Is there a "best" way to image a new PC out of the box? I'm using
ZFD 4.01 and PXE. Is it best to boot to PXE, Maintenance Mode and do a
manual command line image job or is there a neater way to accomplish this
task? Please use small words, I'm a Zen Newbie.

Thanks,

Server policies will allow you to reimage a machine out of the box...all you need is an image to blow down to it and yer dancin'!! You just have to setup a rule or two in the server policy and you should be able to use PXE to blow down the image no problem.

You could also use the Multicast portion of the imageserver to blow down the image to several machines at once. I haven't tackled this yet, but if it works anything like ghost...it should be pretty slick. Again, it can be done using PXE and you don't even have to touch the new computers.

Good luck,
John

Be careful with server imaging policy. Do not forget to deactivate it after
your new workstation have received the image. A problem with a incorrect
workstation registration could restore a image on a functionning pc.

Good point to consider Martin. Any tips to avoid such a thing? Can the
system be set to only image a PC that is booted into PXE mode?
