I have an application that goes through the internet to post information
to a sql server remotely. first try did not work got blocked
then i found out
i have an application that writes to a microsoft sql server database from
outside a local network

the people there have a We are using a Novell BorderManager proxy server
The firewall must be configured to permit port 1433 incoming (or the port
numbers that SQL Server listens to on TCP/IP), and ports 1024 to 65535
outgoing
I also found out
If trying to get inside of the network from outside you need to setup one-
to-one NAT to tie an external address with the internal address

I am talking to the network people at the set

If we need to do NAT to get this thing to work, it's not going to happen.
We are running an Application Proxy as our County choice. We can do NAT
or Application Proxy, but not both

Can they make this thing work??????????

If you can't do static NAT, you should be able to create a generic proxy for
TCP 1433.
