If you have the current plugins you should have a way to specifically add
a group as a groupmember of another group (special attribute as I recall).
Try setting up an iManager Workstation version new and add the latest
plugins for testing (or production like many others do) to verify this
without messing with your server.
Also, depending on what you are hoping to do w/IDM which is event-driven,
this is a bit different event-wise. If you modify the nested group the
nesting group will not see an event so you may need to do some crazy stuff
in IDM to make it do something with the nesting group when the nested
group (or its members) change.

If you have the correct iManager plugins, in the roles and tasks list,
under "Groups" select "Modify Group". Select the tab "Nested". In the
first subtab "Nested Settings", Enable the "Nested Group" checkbox and
click on "Apply". Then in the second tab "Group Member", you can add
subgroups.

I would guess the eDirectory 8.8 plugins. I have most of the plugins
installed (because I use most of them at some point in time). Other
notable plugins on my system include the IDM plugins (doubt they apply to
your situation), LDAP plugins (doubtful), Unique Name/Zone (doubtful),
DNS/DHCP (really doubtful), and a few others not worth mentioning I
imagine. Start with the eDirectory plugins.
