How to stop mail sync?

I see all these people having problems with mail not syncing! If only I
could turn it on! <g> Today, it appears to be syncing up every email I
ever sent in GW ... it's been going on for hours.

I moved to a new computer recently and reinstalled pda-connect. Ever
since it has been insisting on syncing up email, which I don't want, but
I can't find where to turn it off.
I have unchecked email in both the hotsync and pda-connect config
screens, but still it insists on syncing up the mail.
Any suggestions?
Sync is to a Sony Clie, Hotsync 4.0.1, PDA Connect 7.0.1.
