Mine always did. The clients should get a notice that a client update
is available.

The client is available through the web interface (on port 8300)
provided my the messenger agent.

Tid 10098064 gives some older information on stopping the client
update. On my 2.04 system, going into the client update portion
mentioned in that tid gives me the ability to enable auto-update (on by
default), and to specify a minimum version and date of the client. I
think in your case simply unchecking the auto-update option would
accomplish your goal.

Personally, I'd just let them update automatically, unless you're
dealing with locked-down PC's that would have an issue with it.

Have you tried manually installing it via the web interface? (Just to
see if your users have the minimal rights to do it).
