This is due to a corrupt caching mailbox. Tell the client to make a new
one by changing the path to the caching directory to some new folder,
then go from online mode, back to caching mode and this should download
and create a whole new caching mailbox for you and solve the problem.

I'm regular user with a good seat-of-the-pants intuitive knowledge of the system in an office full of end users who neither know nor care how the system works. Thus, I'm sometimes called upon to help solve problems they can't figure out, and this specific one has come up. In my case, the user who is getting this message cannot operate in anything but Online mode in Groupwise 7.0.3 because the administrator has disallowed the other options. I'm more than happy to tell her to call our internal helpdesk - that will be my next step - but I just wanted to exhaust all other options before doing so.
