We are running into a variety of situation where the GW system adds additional routing information to addresses that are included as part of a valid incoming message.
A reply to the message shows address that look something like this

Our GW system is fairly complex with linked GW systems and the use of a domain name that is not authoritative for that domain.  But we have determined that if GW would just leave the included addresses alone and not add any additional routing information everything would work.  We have tried the "ari-never" option and we still get added routing information.  There has been some suggestion that the MTA is adding this info or the client itself.

Does anyone know how to tell the GW client/system to not put any addition routing information on addresses included on a message and always use just the plain internet address?

Thank you,

Barney,

It has been a long time since we have seen an address of the form:
"firstname...@maildomain.com".gatewayname.gwiadomainname@maildomain.com

This is the "old style" of creating a reply address.  Before internet addressing, we had to construct a sender's address like that so that the reply would make it back to GWIA.

What is wrong is that, for some reason, the GWIA does not think that internet addressing is on.  This means:
1. There is a setup problem and internet addressing is not on for the system that contains this GWIA.
2. The startup switch is being used that disables internet addressing at the GWIA
3. The domain DB that the GWIA is on needs to be rebuilt.

Please check these items and let us know what you find.

Thanks,
