the problem is, for a successful deletion the agents must be up.
Try a rebuild of the domain database.

How in the world should that remove the information about the old agents

It sould not, as ref. to his statement about "No backup", so I took it
like he simply was ref. to the objects in eDir, or ?

No. "in the GW view the poa/po and MTA objects are still there"

He's trying to get rid of a crashed domain.
