I know I've fdone this before. In fact I had this all working up until the
other day when I had to remove GWIA and re-install to fix another problem.
Here's the situation. I have a few copiers that can scan and email. In the
past I've put in an exception to the SMTP Relay to allow relays from these
addresses as follows
From - Kon...@travelpdx.com
To - *
For some reason, this will not work anymore unless I allow all relay, which
of course I don't want to do.
To test with, I set up a pop/smtp client to attach to the GWIA. Unless I put
in password for SMTP, I am unable to relay with an exception put in GWIA
for the address that I'm sending from. I didn't have to do this in the past.
This would be fine except that I can't do that with the copiers. They don't
allow for SMTP passwords.....

Aren't they static IP's? Why not use an ip based exception.

Wade,

AFAIK mail addresses don't work for relaying exceptions, only for class of service exceptions. What Michael said, use the IP of the printer.
Also note that you don't need a relaying exception if you want to mail stuff to internal recipients only.

They must work, I have been doing them for several years.... just not
working now unless I am able to use a password for the SMTP. I'll try the IP
exception though and see how it goes

Ok, now I'm really confused... I've got three of these copiers. The one that
is on the LAN (Main office) works great now. The other ones, that are coming
in over the WAN aren't. I was watching the GWIA screen when one tried and it
was saying relaying denied with the IP address that I had entered in the
exception... What am I missing?

Never mind.... I just realized that I tried the others before GWIA had a
chance to restart.. All working now. Thanks
