---------------------
NetWare 6.5
GroupWise 6.5.6
---------------------
First - apologies - I posted this in the wrong forum earlier.
We are trying to convert this client from using an old gateway, TFS,
to using GWIA. TFS runs on a Windows workstation and interfaces
through the GroupWise API gateway on the Novell server (GWAPI).
Problem : the messages come in from the antispam unit into GWIA,
GWIA posts a "Queuing to MTA" entry in the log, and the messages do
not get delivered to the end-user. Outgoing messages via GWIA are
fine.
After investigating this my guess is that the problem is with the
GWAPI gateway having an alias name of INTERNET in ConsoleOne. GWIA
is called GWIA.
Am I right in thinking that that is where the problem is ? Or is it
purely an MTA routing problem (I can see MTA picking up the problem
but then it disappears).
If so : they need to keep the GWAPI running so that existing Address
Book entries, and replies to old emails can work without problem, but
I also want them to have GWIA for all new emails of course. Is it as
simple as giving the TFS gateway a new alias type, e.g. TFS (I have
since tried that and it does not work) ?
Any ideas welcome.
Thanks.
Karl
Yes - they are the same. The GroupWise API Gateway (still called
INTERNET and with an alias of INTERNET) and the GWIA
Outgoing emails work through the GWIA.
Incoming hit the GWIA, are queued to the MTA and then vanish.
Sending an Internet email with the FQDN of the GWIA goes through the
GWIA ("john...@world.com".GWIA.GroupWiseDomain). Sending it with the
FQDN of the GroupWise API gateway sends it via the GWAPI
("john...@world.com".INTERNET.GroupWiseDomain).

Are the domain names the same for how the mail was hosted on the old
and
new gateway?

I have simplified things now. I have deleted the GroupWise API
Gateway, deleted the GWIA and re-installed it.
So the only things left are :
-----------------------
NetWare 6.5 SP7
GroupWise 6.5.6
GWIA (Object name is INTERNET)
-----------------------
Now Effectively a standard setup.
a) Outgoing emails go out without problems.
b) Incoming emails hit the GWIA, the GWIA shows
"Queuing to MTA"
c) The email never reaches the end-user
Any ideas ?

Sorry for the delayed response - only just now logged in (for a
problem).
Actually, Everything was working but ................ all my test
emails were going into the JUNK MAIL folder and I didn't realise it
was doing that. You basically need to make sure you turn OFF "Enable
Junk Mail using Personal Address Books" before you start testing.
Lost an entire day in this conversion till I realised !
