Is there somewhere you can set GroupWise to send a recurring message
weekly/monthly without manually resending?

No. You'll have to use a scheduler and a command line mailer.

We're doing that with Reminder Notes.

Care to submit a HowTo for this? I asked a while ago and have been working as Uwe suggested.

Well, simply open Groupwise and choose FILE | NEW | Reminder Note 9or
CTRL-SHIFT-R) then fill out the usual stuff...address, subject and
message.

In the START DATE field click on the Calendar icon and then Select
Recurring at teh bottom. You can then use the autodate functions to
schedule a recurring Reminder.

After you create it look in your Sent Items folder to see al the
instances queued up.

You might want to be careful with the dates. You probably don't want
items in the calendar too far in advance! We tell users to do it for a
year max then issue a reminder to themselves to renew it.

Does this only add the note on the calendar for each occurance or will it
actually send a message to the in-box? The reason why I'm asking is that
we have some staff pushing for Outlook and claim Outlook can accomplish
this, although from what I've found it can't. They want to be able to
send a message (inbox) to a group on a weekly basis without having to
manually send out each week.

Thanks

I don't see the distinction. The same message will appear on calendar the
whole time.

The requesting user is not looking for a reminder note on a calendar.
What they want to do is send a recurring email (not a calendar item) that
will appear in the inbox of other users on specified days (i.e., They want
to set up a message to be sent once a week to a specific set of users as a
reminder or request for information).

I just tested the suggestion of Reminder Notes and to a GW user it sends all notes NOW to be added to the calendar for future dates. Not what we were looking for, or from the comment below what the original poster is wanting.

A further test to an SMTP address seems to send only one at a time - today's note has been sent, the properties of the others still show pending 10 minutes later. I'll see this time tomorrow if the second of my test set gets sent out.

It looks as though the repeating Reminder Note will work for external emails but not for internal GW emails.

I am looking for a very similar function. I am responsible for staff
development and when I've done a training session using resources that
the staff could use, I would like an email that I have already prepared
to automatically go out to the staff, along with a 2nd follow up a week
later just to keep them "on top of" what they've learned. I can prepare
these messages prior to our training, but would like to set a date
parameter so it goes out in the future, not the day I prepare it. I also
don't want to keep it in my "Work in progress" folder and try to remember
to follow-up myself. It should be automatic. I know it's possible in
Outlook by setting a delay (sechedule sending a message). Is it possible
in Groupwise?

There is a delayed delivery feature in GW, check the Send Options tab
of a new mail

Repeating reminder notes to outside addresses seem to work, but the test I sent myself for 3 days this week includes the list of dates at the start of the email body (which doesn't show in the Sent Item), so wouldn't actually be helpfull:

Item Type: Note
On Date: Tuesday, 19 Oct 2004, 03:55:00pm (GMT Standard Time)
Wednesday, 20 Oct 2004, 03:55:00pm (GMT Standard Time)
Thursday, 21 Oct 2004, 03:55:00pm (GMT Standard Time)

I agree we're back to scheduling a command-line mailer.
