What is the reason for the repair? Have you performed an eDirectory
health check in iMonitor? You should never use the -U option. Use the -R
with switches that you need as you need them, but you can do all of this
from within iMonitor too once you have finished the rest of your health
check. Repairs should be run whensomething that the repair fixes is what
you are trying to do, or perhaps when you are out of other options.
Good luck.

That is not true. Please do not do that. If there is a reason to run a
repair ever then either there was a glitch in the lower levels (power
outage, hardware failure, etc.) or there is a bug in eDirectory. Isolate
the bug and report it, but otherwise I haven't run a repair in any of my
trees for years except when a problem came up that a repair fixed. I push
through more objects than most customers (test users, admittedly) and this
has been fine for me.
Good luck.

Please provide a link... it doesn't say that in the old health check TID
and I'm fairly sure the new one (whatever its number is) is similar:
http://support.novell.com/docs/Tids/Solutions/10060600.html
Step 8 says IF you find a problem dsrepair is a valuable tool, but if you
find something then what you use for repair options depends on what you
found. Running a repair just for fun is not valid troubleshooting.
Good luck.

No, if any errors that can be fixed by a repair are found during the rest
of the health check then a repair can be performed. If errors are found
that are irrelevant and not fixable by a repair then running a repair is
just a time waste, but as long as you get the general idea you're set. So
which options you use for the repair still depend on what you find during
the first steps of the repair.
Good luck.
