With experience some stranges problems regarding modification of
Zenworks applications objects.

Here's the situation :

There is a partition replication that goes on ten servers. Suppose we
create an Application1 from server A the Application show on all ten
server. Now, we make a modification (most are deletion)on that object.
The modification is replicate on all except one server. If we make the
modification from the defect server the modification is not replicate on
all the other server. This server as a Read/Write replica on the
partition. Everything else looks fine (timesyc, partition is on and sycn).

All the serves are OES/Linux SP2. Zenworks is Zenworks 7 SP1

Anyone as a clue on this ?

Thanks,

Louis-Steve Desjardins

Hello Louis-Steve,

i had a similar problem with some ZenWorks Streamfile attributes. The
Problem in my case belongs to ConsoleOne 1.3.6e.
When you modify StreamFiles with ConsoleOne 1.3.6e and ConsoleOne is
connected to a Partition on a OES Linux Server, the Streamfiles get
updated, but the time Stamp not. So the change will not be replicated.
You can see this in iMonitor.

The Solution in my Case is a new JNDINDS.jar, which i get from Novell.
If you don't want to open a call, i can send you the jar file.

see TID: 10100542

There is a new JNDINDS.JAR dated 9/24/2006, included with ConsoleOne 1.3.6f,
which comes with NW65SP6. I don't know if it contains the fix for this
problem, but it's worth trying and letting everyone know.

Hi Olaf,

Please don't distribute those engineering fixes! The reason why customer
have to open a SR with Novell is because Novell has to track who it gave
the engineering patches out, because if some critical issues found, Novell
can contact the customer who got the fix. However, if this patch is
distributed without the knowledge of NTS/Novell, Novell will not be able to
contact those guys who will come back and blaming Novell once a problem was
caused by the engineering build.

Customer can always call the support center and request files specified in
the TID without a contract - at least here in EMEA definitely. It is simple
a file request, no support is provided, but the file can be handed out and
tracked.

Other then that, the fix is included in ConsoleOne 1.3.6f which should be
included in NW65 SP6, so you can use the jar file from this patch, but as
far as I know there will be a separate 1.3.6f download at
download.novell.com - however I don't know exact dates.

Thanks, Akos

I got the patch from Novell after calling them. Olaf just told me the
reason for this problem and what can fix it. BTW, I don't know why
Novell still need to be called on this. It's on old TID.

Because the patch isn't released and support wants to track who's got it
in case there's a problem with it. If you don't open a call, you can't be
notified of an update to the patch.

Hi Guys,

C1.3.6f as far as I know should be released on download.novell.com site as a
separate download this week. DISCLAIMER: don't blame anyone if not :)

No problem. My reply was to this sentence:

"If you don't want to open a call, i can send you the jar file."

Hello Akos,

i can follow your arguments. Sorry for advertising this engineering fix.
I will never do it again ... ;-(

Most import is, that Louis-Steve problem is solved with the new

Should be any second (+- 200000) now. Give it a few more and we should
all be happily on 1.3.6f.

Good luck.

Hi Olaf,

No problem :) It is not a problem to tell you ran into this issue, just
don't give out an engineering fix, but tell them you got it from NTS and
ask them to do the same - not because NTS guys lose their job without these
requests, but they can be tracked then :))

Cheers, Akos
