Is is possible to assign directory and file rights such that a user has the
rights to add files, delete files etc but cannot delete a folder?
We have had several people accidently drag a folder somewhere they did not
mean to and it looks lost to us. All of the rights commands appear to
operate on the files and folders together. I want to allow the users to
create and delete files -- just not a whole folder of files. It would be
even better if the user could delete empty folders but not folders with
files.

Nope, you can flag them nove/copy inhibit, but that's not perfect. Best
trick is to adjust the settings required to drag stuff around.
