I have a custom LDAP application that is logging all LDAP errors to a
logging attribute. We are beginning to see the following error which I
cannot find any relevant information. Can any one help?

LDAP UNKNOWN ERROR[NDS error: OS error of some sort (-255)]

My environment is NW 5.1 sith SP6 and eDirectory 8.7.04.

I would suggest turning on LDAP tracing on the LDAP server/group
object, then LOAD DSTRACE, turn off everything and on LDAP (+LDAP). Log
to file and retry the operation that fails.

at the console type:

load dstrace
dstrace -all +ldap +time
dstrace screen on file on

then after the trace, type

unload dstrace

then view the file sys:\system\dstrace.log
