upgraded our NW5.1 SB (SP5) Server to 8.7 (Mistakenly thinking it was
required for GroupWise 6.5). One other server exists in the tree, a NW5.0
(SP6a) server running BorderManager only. After the upgrade, I am
encountering critical DSRepair and Timesync issues. DSRepair is reporting

ERROR: Attribute type is not valid schema, ID: 00000152, attribute is purged

All IManager is showing me (or I am gleaning from it, more apropos) is
the -608 error on the remote server in the unscoped_slp object as above.
Any help resolving these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Mark,

First thing to do is to change the time server type on .OTI_FS2.ONEILL1
from reference to single, to get the time in sync. You should always go
with the single/secondary model if you have less than 30 servers. If you
have more than 30 servers you may use one as reference, at least two as
primary and the rest as secondary.

It appears to be the CN=Admin.O=ONEILL1.T=ROOT object that is the
problem.
I believe that this is due to the fact that this object is associated
with an auxiliary class. Refer to the following article,
http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/nds/features/trenches/tr_aux_classes_edir.html

Please also take a look at the following TID to see if that can help
you,
http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10076447.htm

Tack så mycket för din snabb och bra hjälpa!
(Ursäkta, min Svensk är inte så bra nu!)

Your eDirectory article recommends upgrading 5.0 servers in an eDirectory
ring to version 8.5.1; however, I can't see this listed on Novell's download
site. Do you know of any mirror sites? I thought I found one in Germany,
but it was just a link to a vanished page on Novell's site. Would
downloading the upgrade Wizard as if I were going to upgrade to NW 6.0
upgrade the DS to version 8.5.1 on the 5.0 server? I can't recall which
version it wants in preparation for NW 6.0

Jag tycker den ser väldig bra ut. Har du bott iSverige?

You will find the download for eDir 8.5.1 here,
http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/2961782.htm

The Upgrade Wizard will not upgrade your DS to another version. It'll
only check the revision of DS.

Don't know if you do English. Suspect same problem I just had a week
ago. TID just posted April 7, 2003

http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10081920.htm

Good luck,

Scott

Thanks for the advice, Scott.

Actually, Niclas's original answer did the trick for me - outside of the
fact that my 5.0 is still on eDir 7.x and the version of 8 that will be
compatible with the 5.0 server and the eDir 8.7 no longer appears to be
downloadable from Novell.

Your problem seems ugly. Did the TID result from your tech support call?
Ouch.

I just noticed that Niclas's email ended in .se so thanked him in Swedish
and things went on from there - I joked that Vancouver, Canada was a very
Swedish city because of all our Swedish hockey stars.
