Saa 2.20 running on Newtare 3.2

We have a problem where we are getting the following error message
appearing on the console of 1 of the SAA servers we have on site.

Invalid XID format 3 Recieved from Remote LLC8022 Node 400010882003 dsap
04 on adapter SWPUPR1 byte=9 bit=4

disconnecting link .

This appears a number of times and then the server connects to the PU on
the Mainframe . There are other servers on the Tonken ring MAU and they
are not having any problems
Nothing has changed on the Gateway in years . Mainframe and network
support have investigated and they can see nothing wrong . I suspect this
may be a LAN/ WAN issue as this message has only been appearing for 2
weeks and we had a netowork issue then , this normally occurs in the night
and is not happening the same time as an IPL which was first suspected.

any idea's ?

Which node has the mac address 400010882003? Is that the FEP or some
other box on the token ring? Sounds like a misconfiguration on that box.
