I seem to have messed up the first message the two examples I was trying to
get across are the following:
number one (which is what works) user...@mailhost.domainname
number two (which is what I want to work but doesn't) username@domainname
get across are the following:
number one (which is what works) user...@mailhost.domainname
number two (which is what I want to work but doesn't) username@domainname

What do you have in your foreign ID field of the GWIA? You should have
domain.com listed first, then host.domain.com second (using a space to
separate them)
