hi. GW6.5sp1, nw6.0sp3

We have turned on password caching. We are using seperate gw passwords and
network passwords. No edir
authentication, etc.

Anyway, the first time after a user network logs in, they are prompted for
their GW password, which is then used for any Gw client or notify app start
as long as the user stays logged in.

If they network log out and network login, they are prompted again.

I see the pros and cons to that, but Gw should, if password caching is on,
at least try the last successful password it knows before
asking for a password again.

No, because that would be a security risk. As soon as a workstation logs out,
the cached password (which uses the M$ API) is cleared so that it cannot be
reused by another user.

In theory, practice and theory are the same,
In practice they are different!

But, if the same user logs in again, ie, authenticates again, then wouldn't
that imply that the same user is going to email?

This is a bit of a pain, because it means that notify cannot automatically
come up (like it does with Outlook).

Unless you set the client to "do not require password with NDS" you need to
enter a password. If you tick the box, then the GW client uses your NDS login
data...

By no means. I see no correlation between the two
