Randomly Disappearing Reply

OK, Here's another weird problem. I have a user with a Japanese WinXP Home
laptop. He's running the GW 5.5.5 client. Last week he was having a
problem where email text wouldn't show up in the quickviewer & I uninstalled
GW & used the cleaning agent & reinstalled. That fixed that problem. But
today he tells me that when someone replies to one of his emails or an email
he was included on the text of the reply is missing. The strangest thing is
that sometimes it IS there & sometimes it ISN'T, on the same email!
Actually the same thing happened with his quickviewer yesterday. Yesterday
it wouldn't show the contents of an email & today it does?!
Any ideas? I'm rather stumped.

I forgot to mention that the text of the original message is always there,
whether the reply text is or not. People included in the reply get the
reply text and the original text.

Well, I think I figured out where most of the problems with this client are
coming from. I completely uninstalled & reinstalled GW on his computer
again this morning & when I launched it & tried to open one of the problem
messages again I got a message about viewing HTML messages. I noticed that
these messages were all HTML messages. When the quickviewer works, they
display correctly there, but not when I open the email in it's own window.
I can get it to view right there if I click on the HTML button in the
toolbar & select view HTML as text.
So my question is: Is there a way I can default all HTML messages to view as
text in GW 5.5.5? I didn't see anything about that on the KB.
