Hello,

I am seeing the following error messages on the console screen on one of our
NW4.11sp9 servers.

ngw-router0 process did not relinquish control frequently.
module: novell groupwise common libraries

Any way to fix this error? Is it a memory issue?

thanks

It is normally a broken link issue. For what ever reason, a restart,
closing down etc, the MTA sends a message to the other end, which
because of the broken/mis-configured link, doesn't reply, so it has to
wait to time out.

This particular domain/mta is in our London office which is connected to the
WAN via a slow connection/wan link. All of our other offices are in USA.
So could the slow connection/wan link be the culprit?

Thanks

Very likely. How long does it take to shutdown/clear? One workaround is
to suspend the link before shutting down. Doesn't help with auto
restarts though.

What do you mean by shut down/clear, unloading the POA and MTA?

I'm assuming that message only comes up when you are doing a restart or
shitdown, is that not the case? How long does the error condition lt
before correcting itself?

It happens periodically throughout the day. I have never watched it that
closely. But when I randomly Rconsole to that server I more often than not
see those messages on the console. Not quite sure how to keep track of
them. Should I load Conlog? Would that capture those messages?

Thet should be in the mta log. In fact that's where I normally see
them. I wasn't aware that they showed on the console log as well.

I have the MTA log turned off. We are going to be putting more RAM in the
server next weekend. Maybe that would help or are you postivie its a
connection issue with the other domains across the wire?

Not 100%, but pretty sure. Are you sure you have the log files off (Log
settings tab)? I'm not talking about the transaction logging (Message
Logging tab).

I was wrong I do not have that logging option turned off but I do not have a
path set in the path field.
