Tried to move the domain and post office of a GW5.5 sp5 system to a new
volume on same server. Could not connect to the domain database in new
location. Upon further, found that it was orignally installed as an
"Express Install". Also learned that you cannot move domain if this
install was performed. Found work around tid 10084179, mentioned to create
secondary-domain with a PO and move users, then promote to primary domain.
CLient would like to do a clean blow away and reinstall system instead for
fear of any other problems associated with express install. Came up with
archiveing each user, blow system away, reinstall in new location, use the
fid fixer tool and un-archiving.

My question, if you choose to answer, is, besides archiveing all users
mail, is there an easier way to restore mail and calendars for the users
from the old system to the new one?
It's a 1 server tree NW5.0 sp6a
Also, can you even archive the calendar?
Small system, less than 15 users.

Thanks for any insight

This "locked" system comes from Small Business Suite and has caused several
problems over the years. The create secondary domain, migrate users is better
than the "archive, FID, Restore" alternative IMHO but each to their own. The
basis of the problem is that each mail box is secure with it's own ID and user
name, therefore by migrating from one PO to the new one you keep all of your
mail, calendar etc.

Having said that, either route will work.
