there is a GPW 5.5 Serve we have.
Mail in coming threw our firewall.
and we are able to send mail via smtp(on an NT box) out.
We just can't get any in coming mail in since 8:30am EST.
I don't know much about GPW 5.5 -
what should i look for?
where can I look on the GWP 5.5 box to see if any mail has come into the
mail server or if its sitting somewhere else.
we called UUnet and they say mail is coming into our firewall in.
we've rebooted the mail server and nothing.
any help would be great.

thanks in advance.

First, you want to look at the logs of GWIA, GroupWise Internet Agent,
that's the service which passes email between the 'Net and the GW
Message Transfer Agent. Look for inbound email messages. (We had a
similar problem last Friday, as a result, I believe, of a temporary
Ethernet loop created on our LAN by our consultant, a CNE no less. Our
GWIA got screwed and was accepting email from the 'Net and then dropping
them instead of passing them to the MTA.)

You can check to see if mail is being accepted by GWIA and not getting
to MTA by telneting to port 25 and manually sending email from inside
the house.
Here's a link to a how-to:
http://oberon.idunno.org/stuff/telnet.html
Set up your telnet utility to local echo and send CR-LF
(Telnet email is also good for sending spooky anonymous email inside the
house. ;-) )
If GWIA gives you "250 OK" responses but you don't see the email turn up
in your mailbox, you've got an internal problem.

Elliot,

I just read your reply to my post.
If that is the case how can i fix it so that we can get inbound mail
again.

I'm a newbie to Novell
